You're invited to Stephen & Jerrard's Murder Mystery Weekend!
Why?
- It's both of our birthdays - we're turning 35 within a month of each other. Stephen's a month older but you didn't hear that from me.
What?
- We've booked an Airbnb for a weekend, with room to accommodate 16 people plus 4 on blow ups (more on that in the FAQ), and on one of the nights we will be running the main event - a murder mystery dinner. Such fun!
When?
- Friday 28 May for two nights (checking out Sunday 30 May). The murder mystery dinner is happening on the Saturday, but we have plenty planned for the rest of the weekend too. How good.
Let us know if you can, can't or might be able to come! We would love an indication of numbers as soon as possible.
Where are we going?
To a place called Warrandyte, east of Melbourne. From:
- Melbourne - 43 min drive (on the way to Healesville)
- Interstate - 45 min drive from Tullamarine airport (see below)
- Mornington - 53 min drive
- Sale - 2.5hr drive
How much will it cost?
For now we are saying $200, but this will change based on how many people join us. It will likely be cheaper than this so you will be refunded the difference. We have limited numbers, so your spot isn't confirmed until you've paid, and payment must be made by 28th April.
This cost includes:
- Accommodation
- Food & other groceries
- The cost of the game itself
- Optionally add $20 and we will get a costume for you from a local second hand store!
This cost does not include:
- Flights if you're interstate
- Fuel for transport to/from the Airbnb (we will carpool wherever possible to reduce this)
- Our love, coz that don't cost a thing
What even is a Murder Mystery party?
Before the night, each attendee is assigned a character, with guidance on costume, accent, personality etc. You rock up to the party as that character, and the game is afoot!
A murder has taken place, and someone in attendance was the murderer. The game is played in three "rounds", broken up between a three-course meal. Each round you will be given some new information, as well as some guidance on who you need to talk to and what kind of questions you should ask. Each character will be given different information, and you may well be the murderer yourself! Duh-duh-duuuhhh!
At the end of the night, everyone takes a guess at who the true murderer was, and then we do a big reveal!
Costume is a big part of the experience as it helps people get into character. Accents and such are a bonus! But please don't feel any pressure to perform - the idea is just to have fun, this is not the set of Les Mis!
